Living Exhibits

Our living exhibits are dynamic and collaborative, bringing history to life through virtual interactions and partnerships with local and global stakeholders. In collaboration with the International Slavery Museum, in Liverpool, we explore the deep connections between the African Diaspora’s maritime history and the global economic impact of the transatlantic trade of people and cash commodities. These exhibits highlight the voices and stories of those who have lived and continue to live the traditions we celebrate, including the historical legacies and vibrant traditions of stories such as the Charleston's Market Matriarchs and Flower Ladies and Market Ladies in port cities throughout the African Diaspora. Through these living exhibits, visitors can virtually experience the artistry, craftsmanship, and cultural narratives passed down through generations.
